Human Rewriter – Not Paying Affiliates?

August 26th, 2010

Hey guys,

As you know, many marketers as well as myself have used Human Rewriter for content…They’ve always delivered what I ordered in the time frame they specified and I’ve had no issues with the quality of the work for my purposes(UAW submissions)…

However, these days the company’s integrity is in question as they have not been making affiliate payments.

I noticed back on May the 1st of 2010 that I had not been paid via the automated payment system since March 15th (payments are supposed to go out twice a month).  I e-mailed support and was told that I wasn’t picked up by the automated system for whatever reason and they sent me the payment manually.

That was all well and good, however since then(May 1st) I have not received any payment…

I sent a message July 22nd to support to ensure that my payment would be sent out, I was told it would be automatically sent on August 1st.. Still no payment was sent however, so I e-mailed them again on August 5th to let them know, I was told by support they’d speak to accounting about this.  I sent an e-mail asking for an update on August 11th and August 16th, and received no reply, so on August 24th I sent the following:

It’s been 12 days since my last message, and 18 days since I sent the initial message and I haven’t received any response regarding the lack of payment for the last few months. There is currently $615.40 owing and I’ve waited past a reasonable amount of time, without any word back.

Is Human Rewriter going to honor this payment? If I do not hear back, I won’t have any other choice but to make sure other Human Rewriter user’s or potential users aware of what is happening here.

I’d like to be put in touch with Terry Smith from accounting to have the $615.40 transferred manually.

Thank you,

-Mike Iser”

Following this e-mail I did receive a response.  It appeared to be a copy and pasted message as the previous recipient’s name was left in:

Unfortunately I have little (actually no) control over affiliate payments, and cannot make a statement as to when they will resume being paid out.  I have attempted to contact our accounting people several times in regards to this issue, but have received no response.  All I can tell you is that we will more than likely be phasing out the affiliates program when the site undergoes its next update.  It also looks like the business may be changing hands.

Their affiliate commission model is to pay 20% commissions on what referrals spend for life, so it seems as if they are no longer willing or able to continue with that and at the same time have decided to sell the business…

No communication between support and accounting + not paying + selling the business?  Doesn’t look good…

Seeing as how I did not see anyone talking about this on the Warrior Forum or anywhere else, I thought I’d make a post to let others who use or may use this service know exactly what is happening.

Below is the email transcript:

Human Rewriter – 1
Human Rewriter – 2
Human Rewriter – 3

If anything changes, I’ll post about it, but right now, not looking good.

It’s sad to see that Mike. I hope things work out and they end up paying you that $600+ 🙂

    @Paul Morales

Hey Paul, ya..I’m not banking on it..When a business doesn’t have any physical address or phone number available for you to contact them, this stuff can happen.

It’s quite rampant in the High Yield Investment Programs online (HYIP’s) and autosurfs…I dabbled in that before doing IM.

Thanks for the heads up Mike! I will not do business with this company whatsoever!

Hopefully you get that money, try to find others in the same boat as you and try to get that money!

That bites. Not good, and a car payment to boot? No dice. It’s sad, too, since they did deliver good work for me.

Why dont you pay some kid from one of the hacking forums and ddos the crap out of them. If i were in your situation I cant resist the temptation. I hate when ppl play me like this.

They probably ran out of money. Their prices are pretty cheap and they have to pay the writers, I’m surprised they could ever afford a 20% commission to affiliates.

    np Chris..

    @JamestheJust on Elance

Ya…it was good while it lasted.

Ya, I’ve seen this stuff happen a lot online…but the only time I’ve ever seen something positive happen is when a lawsuit was filed.. That’s what happened with this High Yield Investment program/scam/ponzi(12 Daily Pro), it was seized by a US district court appointed receiver and 3 years later, the investors in this got back a SMALL fraction of what they put into the company. tlennonfor12dailypro (dot ) com is the website which was created out of the mess.

Their affiliate program allowed them to grow to the point that they did, however they should not have adopted it if they could not honor it.

The owner looks to be selling the company so that person will have a lot pretty soon.

Alright, now I’m curious, either email me some deets or define that? What’s the ddos thing?

I ask because I’m pretty sure I’ve been targeted, but how would I know?

I am not a hacker, but hope to answer your question. DDOS means denial of service attack, means hackers got a loads of zombie computer(infected pc with their virus or self owned) from different IP that access/ping your server simultaneously. E.g. 500 thousands of zombie computer ping your server at the same time. So, your server will unable to response all access request at one time, so it will breakdown.

Solution: If you suspect you have been a target of DDOS attack, contact your server company, ask them troubleshoot or suggestion. I read some else that solve this by getting hardening VPS(Virtual Private Server) which can anti DDOS, but will be more costly.

Leon – thanks – I am definitely not the sufferer of a DDOS then. I think maybe Idaho just has Crummy ISP’s…

    Thanks for the intel, man!

    My Human Rewriter Experience –

Purchased the “Platinum” package which allowed submissions. Uploaded over 200 articles to be submitted UAW with this package… three months later, nothing. No response, No work… nothing. So I disputer the charge, got an immediate refund (still no word). They’ve been slipping a lot lately…

    Hi Mike,

Been following your blog forever but its the first time I’ve made a post.

Just wanted to say thanks for all your info man. Its such a great help and really appreciated!

It’s a good thing that you mentioned this Human Rewriter thing because I literally just signed up to them a few hours ago using your affiliate link, but based on your expeience I think I’ll hold out until they try and sort out your payment stuff!

Anyway, just a quick heads up on something. One of the posters at Noteworthy Tips mentioned that the keyword search data seems to have changed….(for the worse). I’ve always used MNF for my research, however, when I carried out the research using the adwords tool, it seems like there is a massive drop in the number of exact search volume.

Is this the end of keyword tools like Micro Niche Finder? Just thought this may be helpful to you and your readers.

Hey Adam, damn…that’s troubling to hear, didn’t know there were those having issues on that end as well.

Glad you find the site helpful Zaheer :> And ya, at this time it would be best to be cautious with them.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ve never heard this talk about the keyword data info having changed…but none of the keyword tools ever really provide completely accurate data to begin with anyway.

The important thing is to get used to a specific tool, and see what the data translates to with some real life experience. Ex: Make a bunch of sites on keywords which supposedly had 3k exact, 4.4k exact, 5.4k exact etc… and see where you wind up..

If you do this enough, you will get a feel for the #’s with whatever keyword research tool you’re using and this is just a moot point. It’s just meant to be a rough guide.

@ Adam, fortunately you were lucky enough to get a refund which is something. 🙂

Hi Mike, I’ve just lost patience with HR having sent them four emails this month asking where my money was (no where near what you’re owed though!). Not one single reply from my first email sent on the 2nd of September nor to the other three sent. There is a thread in the WF that you might want to add to:

    @Michelle Adams

Hey Michelle, ya that sucks that you’re also hit by that…

Ya, I’m guessing he got that info from my site as I don’t think anyone else has ever mentioned this.

I have been working as a “re-writer” and article spinner on Human Rewriter for about 6 months. Up until this week, I have always been paid on time, once a week on Fridays, for the work I did during the week. However, this week, I had about 7 or 8 articles that I rewrote that have not gone from my pending account (which means they are waiting to be checked by the submitter and reviewed quality assurance) to my paid account. I’ve stopped working until I’m paid for this work, but from what I am hearing, I may not receive it.

The other issue is that re-writers are supposed to communicate with the company via AOL Instant Messenger if they have problems. For the last several months, no one has been available to support writers. I’ve even tried using the customer support email address to get my questions answered, but to no avail. So it looks like this company is either closing its doors or will change ownership. It’s too bad they don’t have the decency or integrity to tell people what’s going on.

They owe me over $500. I have seen my account balance (the amount they owe me) go from $450 to $9 overnight with no explanations. That money never came back and there was no answer to my emails.
The company also offers its writers “support” via AIM but nobody has been online doing this for several months.

There were occasional issues during the year but things have really gotten worse beginning last May. I have an approval rating of over 99% and nobody has given me any kind of information about what is going on.
    Good luck guys.

Human Rewriter Not Paying Affiliates. And Never Will!!!
As of January 1st, 2010, I have been asking Don Ellis and the support team to forward my latest 3 month affiliate monies to me and they refuse to respond. I have petitioned the Philadelphia Small Claims Court, who referred me to their sister company People Powered Content in Brea, California, who told me more or less, GOOD LUCK in getting your money as both courts were flooded with inquiries for past SIX months. I did not have a check sent to me since June 2009

If you ARE lucky to get anyone to answer your mail, they will deny responsibility, but all of my email address are blocked from their servers, yet my commission account page still shows them owing me money, and I have proof that i wasn’t even getting credit for customers orders as my BROTHER put in an order for over $400 5 months ago, and it never even showed on my commission report. When i inquired as to why, I was send a letter that said that none of my xxx customers were buying anything anymore!

I sent a 4 page complaint to the Philadelphia District Attorneys office and the local BBB, and got a reply that they are starting an investigation, so if enough people reply, they will get summons to appear before the DA , but they will just pull a Bankruptcy protection and all will be moot

I tried to post all of my homework on Warrior Forum, where there was ONLY good feedback about the company last time i checked, , but I was not able to post as it says its now a PAID forum? Maybe someone can copy my postings to there for us…feel free to use my posts

I have changed my thrust to Unique Article Wizard on all my sites and MyArticleExpress is so much better of a company to work with

Lets just put an end to anything to do with Human Rewriter, Don Ellis, People Powered Content, and anyone else in the company. They have scammed enough money from us and its rewriters ( Search Google Posts!)

    Hello everyone,
I have worked with Human Rewriters for over a year now. Once I had an issue of non-payment however the payment came within 24 hours. Now I am facing no log in page, the site is there but the writers login page is not. I have IMed and mailed support numorous times to no avail. Sadly, the networks I’m associated with will be getting a report from me and the company will most likely shut down. Sorry Human Rewriters, you should, at the very least, let your writers know what’s going on.

  21. February 8th, 2011 at 20:03 | #21

I think that the market for rewrites has fallen off and human rewriter can no longer operate profitably. I have seen a reduction in the number of orders for rewrites at my company, especially since Google’s announcement with respect to content farms.

On the bright side I am still paying my rewriters and affiliates.
