Day 99 – Finished 3 More Snipers

August 12th, 2009

Making sniper sites can get quite tiring and monotonous at times….Today I was able to get 3 done nevertheless.

The 2 sniper sites I did from yesterday were both indexed and ranking today, 1 on page 1 and one at the top of page 2(it should climb)….When you make sniper sites in a niche which isn’t full of competition, your sites tend to get indexed and ranked the next day.

As for that new sniper niche that I had recently tried putting 9 sites up in, one of the sites is FINALLY ranking, although at the very bottom of page #1…

I’ve now got an additional 7 sniper sites up in my main niche and I’ve got another 7 sites to go…I’ll probably get that done within the next 2 days, after which I’ll look into doing something else.

These sites that are starting to rank on page 1 are already bringing in hops, around 3-4 a day at the moment(according to the old analytics) for being near the bottom of page 1..They’ll probably pick up a sale at some point in the next month or two.

When I make these sites BTW, I don’t intend for every site to make $200/month…I don’t even expect sniper sites to make 3 sales, 2 sales or even 1 sale a month.Β  I expect that only about 1/3 of the sites I make will be making 1-3 monthly sales since after making over 100 sites, that is what I’ve historically found to be the case.

So if you’re wondering why your sniper sites aren’t producing sales or enough sales, ask yourself, “how many sites do I have?” if you only have 10 or 20 don’t expect much…You need to put up A LOT of these in order to see some good results.Β  So build up some momentum and really knock them out…

Now when I give this advice, this is not taking into consideration product keywords…sniper sites targeting product keywords are likely to be much more profitable than what I’m describing above…That is why I’m considering trying out these kinds of snipers.

Earnings For Today:

  • $89.05 – 3 Sales for Site#1, 1 Sale from a sniper site
  • Hops = 163(new analytics), 490(old analytics) <— wow..look at that discrepancy
  • Adsense = $8.88

    This is one of your best posts, Mike. πŸ™‚

    It shares information and teaches a logical way to look at site building and the realistic expectations a marketer needs to have. Thanks!

    Great info Mike. I recently purchased a domain with the intent to make it a sniper site for a keyword (two words) that has over 1 Million competing pages and gets about 12K searches a month. I let it mature for a week or so and then add ONE backlink (yeah, ambitious, I know), went on vacation, and just got back. To my surprise, it’s already on the first page of Google. Which leads me to a question for you: would you keep that site as a sniper site (2-5 really good click bank products are available) or would you convert it into an authority site and crank up the adsense appeal? (Assume I don’t want to have both.) Since you’ve had success on both, I’d really like your opinion. Thanks!

    @Bruce

    Hey thanks Bruce…Ya, I’ve noticed a common thread that many people try to assess their success or failure with a given method way too soon. This then leads to discouragement and a failure to continue on with the plan.

    With any project you take on you always need to GO BIG and do as much work as you can as QUICKLY as possible so that you’ll be able to see the fruits of your labor much sooner. This is key to gaining the validation that you’re on the right path and thus the motivation and momentum to continue.

    @Kevin

    The 1 million competing pages I’m sure is without the quotes right? πŸ™‚

    There’s no reason to switch plans and build an authority site…Put up a CB product and just keep on pumping out sniper sites just like this… and if you want to climb up higher in the rankings and start ranking for variations of the main keyword, backlink the site with UAW.

    I would rather build 20 sniper sites than 1 authority site with 30-60 posts any day…You have to put a LOT more work into making an authority site successful.

    Just wondering – how many domains do you have registered now? I lost count a long time ago πŸ™‚

    @Sara

    So did I, haha…I have 180 domains registered, however not all of those are websites…

    I’m guessing around 130 of those are sniper sites, another 10 authority websites of mine…the rest, are either not built up yet or domains I used for redirecting or something…

    @ Mike: Yeah, the “Million competing pages” was an intentional exaggeration to mean “a lot”. πŸ™‚ Gonna take your advice and stick with the sniper. Thanks,
