Day 76 – Hub Update

July 20th, 2009

Outtakes from Kenny vs Spenny – Kennys hilarious!

Ok, so I didn’t get as much as I’d hoped done today…I ended up finishing writing 15 hubs in a new niche.  I’m still going to have to write 5 more hubs and then upload them all.  I’m also still waiting on getting my 20 outsourced hubs back from yesterday.

I’m thinking if those hubs come back in good quality, what I’m going to do is really go overboard with the outsourcing…If the quality is good, I’ll just outsource 50 rewrites of my hubs and post those up to Infobarrels.  Those 50 Infobarrels will then link back to my 100 hubs.

The amount of money I’m making from Hubpages is still very minimal…I’ve only made about $13 so far, however it’s still way too early for me to be expecting any kind of income, I need to wait at least 2 weeks to start seeing ANY income pour in and I haven’t even backlinked yet…it’s tough because you don’t see the immediate results like you do with Sniper Sites.

Earnings For Today:

  • $53.15 – 1 Site #3 sale = $11.04, 2 main sniper site sales = $16.61, $25.48
  • Adsense = $2.60 (Some Hubpage $$ in there)
  • Hops = 582

You’re setting a pretty high mark for the rest of us. You’re a hard person to keep up with. In fact, how about a quick pole on how many hub pages people have done this month? And never mind building new websites – whether they are sniper or otherwise.

For me, I’ve done maybe 2 hub pages and 12 new sites all month. Maybe 1 original article, and prepare 4 plr ebooks with affiliate links. You know what? i’m exhausted. Setting up the social networks for each site, submitting to se’s and rss aggregators, emails and endless “confirm this” and “confirm that”.

A lot of my time was spent keyword researching too. I’ve finally come up with a good system using all free tools.

Just for grins, I’ve made 1 cb sale for $15 and a few dollars in adsense(all month). What’s actually pretty exciting about those numbers are that I didn’t pay any ppc to do it. I don’t think I’ve ever made a cb sale without ppc.

Thanks for this blog, I think your really helping a lot of people. It’s rare to find someone who’s willing to share there daily efforts and results.

I’m just curious, how is your ranking holding up for sites you’ve had up for 60+ days? I’ve noticed my sites rank well at first, then drop off. I know it’s comparing apples and oranges, since I use plr mostly and don’t buy domains names using the sniper technique.

For sniper sites, in what order would you put the following seo checklist and what would you add.

    1. domain name
    2. content (original)
    3. social bookkmarking
    4. backlinking from articles

    Hi Mike,

Thanks so much for providing all this information. It’s been really helpful and inspirational to follow your journey.

I do have a question for you. As a newbie I am confused by the domain name selection.

Often I find keywords where the .com, .net, .org are all taken.

I have noticed some sniper sites that will add a word or number to the end of the phrase that are ranking in the top 10.

For example, “superman comic books” is the key phrase and supermancomicbooks.com is taken. Would you take supermancomicbooks.org or supermancomicbooks.net next? And if neither are available, would you take a .us or .biz or would you add another word to the domain like supermancomicbooksnow.com or supermancomicbooks1.com?

How important is the exact match for the domain???

    Thanks so much in advance.

    Hi Mike,

One other question. It looks like your niche blog sites are still generating some income for you. How much time and effort went into those versus these sniper sites? 60 posts?

Since I’m just starting out I’m wondering if a few of the niche blog sites should be thrown into the mix.

Hi Rob. I know that question was adressed to Mike, but let me tell you how I do.

    0. Spend more time with KW research and find the golden ones.
    1. domain name
    2. content (original)
    3. social bookmarking
    4. More Social Bookmarking
    5. Submit RSS Feed
    6. Do manual blog commenting (with kahuna or similar)
    7. Write 1 article submit to ezine
    8. When accpeted by ezine, re-write a bit and submit to a) other directories and b) some traffic system like freetrafficsystem or UAW.

    Just my 5 cents 🙂

Hey thanks Rob, I just want to get this online income thing handled and fast, and just doing what it takes to get there…

As far as my rankings, most of my sniper sites stay steady in the rankings, there is a little fluctuation though… sometimes I’ll have my sites pop into postion #1 of Google and I believe this is when I have high hop days…

For Sniper sites, as a general rule I would have all my posts at least 30% unique as a rule, I would never use pulled content without changing it..

As far as SEO and rankings are concerned, the domain name would be #1 on the list…you NEED to have the domain name equal to your keyword if you want preferential treatment. If you can get this, you get so much preferential treatment that you don’t even need to backlink your sites if you don’t want to.

Now you can go with Keyword+now or Keyword+fast, however you won’t get the same treatment from Google as if you just had the keyword in your domain and only that. So it’s really only worth it going after keyword.com/org/net if you want easy rankings.

Second on the list would be backlinking .. I would put backlinking from high PR pages above articles though..if you just get 1 PR2 backlink, it could bring your PR up to PR1 just like that. Then comes article and other backlinks and lastly bookmarking backlinks.

As far as what to add, I would do runs of UAW on your sniper sites. Other things which you might try are using automated article submitters which can drip out the articles at like 5-7/day, or something like Article Marketing Automation.. now I haven’t tried those last 2, although those are things I would consider trying in the future…

I can say that UAW does help the sniper sites rank for more keywords and helps raise their rankings.

You just have to come up with 6 related keywords that you can potentially rank easily for with your domain, and keywords that you have used as LSI on your site, then use those as backlinks to your site in UAW and you’ll start ranking for those keywords as well..

Hey Mike, whatsup? Ya if keyword.com is taken(which is usually the case) take the .org or the .net. Don’t waste your time with .biz, .info or anything else, those rarely rank in the top and it’s best to just go with what Google prefers, which is .com/org/net.

If you can’t get the domain name exactly and instead add “now” or “fast” to the end of your domain name or some such thing, you will not inherit the same preferrential treatment from Google as if you just had keyword.com/org/net, you will have some favor, but need to work a lot more on your backlinks and it would be harder to rank high.

In situations like that, I just forget it, there are plenty of keywords out there that you can get only the keyword in the domain for.

Regarding my authority sites, I spent A LOT more time into the creation and marketing of them..Granted I was newer to IM then and that’s part of the reason, but I really backlinked them up quite a lot and that is the main reason for their success.

It’s significantly more work working on authority sites…backlinking becomes much more important, you can’t just put up sites like crazy and expect money like with Sniper Sites. For my authority sites I put up 60 posts and some of them have around 120 now as well.

I’ve found it’s more important to work on the backlinking of your posts and getting them to rank rather than just spamming out continual blog postings.

If you go for authority blogs, be prepared to wait longer to see some good income, and also be prepared for more work.

“I’ve found it’s more important to work on the backlinking of your posts and getting them to rank rather than just spamming out continual blog postings.”

How do you get backlinks to your post? What method do you use? Thanks for all the great info!

Mike I keep meaning to ask you, what does UAW stand for?

I’m assuming its some kind of article linking service ? ….or is it United Auto Workers who are doing it for you in their off hours? 🙂

Bruce I think it’s Unique Article Wizard (UAW).

    Hi Mike,

When you are selecting Clickbank products what do you usually go for in terms of gravity and payout?

    Np man…

When I’m selecting a Clickbank product, I look for a gravity of at least 50 (although there are some exceptions). I also prefer focusing on products that yield a $25 commission or higher(4 sales = $100) as I hate getting commissions of $20 or lower.

Hey np JB, when I backlink my Sniper Sites, I use UAW(Unique Article Wizard), it’s the easiest way I’ve found to automate and trickle backlinking. I set it to release the backlinks at a rate of 5-7 per day and with an average of 1000 sites, that puts it on autopilot for backling building a good couple months.

And ya, Bruce, it’s a service that costs around $67/month and you can use it as many times as you want to backlink your pages or your websites..it submits unique variations of your submitted article to directories so more of them show up in the SERPS. I’ve found that by varying the anchor text 6x in my backlinks using it, I’m able to rank for those keywords more readily with my sniper sites.

I still have yet to do my UAW runs on a bunch of my sniper sites, when I get time, hopefully that will increase my hops and rankings…

    Hey Mike,

I have a few more questions for you. What is the average # searches/month for the niche keywords you choose? Is there a minimum that you don’t go under?

And also, how long of a domain based on keywords before it’s too ridiculous? i.e. supermanlovestoflywhenheisbored.com
