That doesn’t sound like a keyword you could make much money off of, it’s too broad…

As nice as the numbers are, I would look for better keywords.

First of all, it’s got a nice amount of traffic, secondly, if it’s a keyword such as “cure x” or “treat y” then even though it’s not longtail, I’d still go after it, it as it will still convert, maybe not as well as a 3 word keyword, but the traffic will make up for that.

AS far as page 1 is concerned, I’d need to do a bit more research…I’d need to check:

-The # of yahoo backlinks for the PR 1 sites, make sure it’s not something like 1,500, but rather something small like 200 or less.
-check the BASE domain PR of the PR1 pages..sometimes the page is PR 1 but the base domain is PR4 or something, that would make it a slight bit more challenging.
-Also, I’d check the competition in quotes…If it’s only 15k or around there, that would change everything…but if it’s around 50k and with those numbers, I’d be a bit cautious.

You need to look at those PR1 sites in detail and see if they’d be easy to outrank.

I could probably give you a more detailed answer if you came back to me with a bit more of the info I mentioned above..but considering there are 4 PR1’s on page 1, my gut is saying you can take it, even though I don’t have all the info.

Don’t get paralyzed by doubt though..If you’re not sure you can take something but have an inkling you might be able to, just go for it, it will be a learning lesson…See it as an opportunity to learn and advance your understanding of what you can take on and what you can’t.

That’s what I’ve done recently, I’ve gone after keywords where the competition is 200-300k in quotes because I noticed another guy with a sniper site ranking on page 1 with not many backlinks and a PR of 0…although the competition in quotes was high, the page 1 competition seemed light in this niche so I decided to buy up the domain and try it out.

Ya JB, I also find it crazy that I’m now getting consistent sales :> As far as the change in my ad copy, most of my sniper sites in my main sniper niche weren’t done exactly as George laid out. I did them more in the form of blog posts in that, I gave them some info they were looking for, then I discounted it, then I offered a better solution.

I also didn’t put up a pic at the side..but now for the last few sites, I’ve been giving them a bit of what they’re looking for, then going into a story of how I used this info but it wasn’t enough to fix things, then going into how I found the product and listing pros/cons at the end…

I’m also including a pic of the “site creator” at the side.(I only neglected to do all this for THIS particular niche, for my other sniper niches I did all this).

JB, you gotta just do it man, venture out into new territory, nothing happens otherwise! You’ve got to stop doubt/fear and just jump in to new projects, as long as you allow doubt/fear of the unknown to hold you back from taking action right away, you cannot be successful in this business.

Debbie, I never asked Ben about the competition as that is something I already know how to handle well enough on my own..but I do recall him mentioning if you see a Web 2.0 property on page 1 like an Ezine Article that’s a good sign(you probably know about this tip already)..

I do feel I’m good at pre-selling, however the only thing that confuses me about pre-selling at this time is how George manages $200-500 per site. But as long as I’m profiting from my efforts, that’s all that matters, it may just be the niche as I have some other sniper sites in other niches that convert well (I have a handfull of sniper sites in other niches converting at around 1:30, they just don’t get enough traffic for that to add up to $200-500/month).

I’m also interested in your new sales copy. Can you say if when Ben talked about adsense and targetting low search phrases what he recommended for competition? And is the adsense you discussed with him for hubpages primarily or also for one’s own domains? My adsense has been going up so I am thinking of expanding on that. You are obviously good at pre-selling so cb looks like it works well for you.
