@Josh that's exactly what i was trying to say. the phrase escaped me at the time i commented... LOL

But I think you are right. I really believe at the end of the day, whether your site is big or small, it is is quality content and you have followed the basic rules of on and offpage SEO, then you will fare well.

Let the dance play itself out. Whether your site is big or small I don't think it matters. Business is business. It would be like telling a brick and mortar small business that they are no longer relavent because they are dont have a superstore so to speak when in actuality there are lots of people that LOVE small business or stores because they can go right in and find exactly what they are looking for and leave.

Same concept online. I think Minisites will still be relavent as long as they are Top Quality and it TRUELY adds value to the searcher's experience. Original and fresh content. I say POWER TO THE MINISITES!!! LOL :)

I'm noticing a lot of my sites are levelling out as well(granted they are a bit lower than before). I'm wondering if the algo changes just kind of threw everyone back into a google dance and the pages are starting to find their place.

Tnx James

To everyone talking about Mayday:

Regarding the whole Mayday algo change...I've mentioned it before. I wouldn't continue to pump out 5 page sites with the intention of just leaving them as is, you'll need to add more pages to them. Adapt with the changing times.

It's like a game as far as I'm concerned. You do what works, if it stops working, you adapt, find another tactic that works and do that.

Focus more on building up your sites, with more of a focus on the sites that are earning you the most...and of course backlink up all your pages.

@AK

I tell them to start off by giving some generic info on the keyword then follow through with reviews of products &/or important tips/info regarding the kw.

The most important thing is for them to research the topic and convey important facts/figures/stats that will leave the reader wiser about the topic than before he read your page.

You can give them the most detailed list of instructions but in the end, you always have to coach them individually after they have written some content for you.

Some people will write really detailed and informative posts but will have plagarized portions..

Others will not write the most informative posts but will inject a lot of personality into them...

Each person has strengths and weaknesses and you got to take it on a case by case basis, noone follows instructions 100%.

@Dee

Nice Dee, glad to hear it...would be nice if that happened.

@Mike. If it's any consolation, my adsense has started to pick back up over the last 4 days. I really think that after the dust settle the sites will pick up again.

Hi Mike,

I am in the same boat as you and have lost a huge portion of my earnings due to the Mayday update.

Can you provide me with an update as to how do you go about lecturing your article writers to write an article?
Say the keyword is - recliner armchairs
So do you tell them to write about recliner armchairs in general? Or do you ask your writers to write about there personal experiences with the product or do you write about the product in general(benefits, specifications) ?

Also how long is your article in general.

Awaiting your kind reply.
Thanks
Al

I think Mark was just trying to shed light on the future effectiveness of microsites, from clues given by Google. This blog so well illustrates that achieving an online income is a journey. We can't do everything, and so we find something that works through the process of experimentation. As things change, we need to adapt and improve.
When I started hearing about mayday this blog is the first place I come to see how it impacts the bottom line. If I had my own online income I could just check my own numbers, but even then the ability to peek in on someone else's exposed financials is solid info to put all the talk about mayday in perspective.

Google is all about providing high quality relevant content. It's good to always keep that in mind when trying to rank in the serps.

I personally think we all need to revamp our strategies and refine it a bit.

It's evident in the may update that we are being affected.

if you're churning out xfactor sites then rethink ur strategy. I'm not saying stop but definitely u need to evolve with the ongoing changes.

Mark, you sound bitter mate. So $132 in a day on autopilot is “no working” right? How much did you make yesterday?
Even if micro sites fell of the face of the earth, I am sure that with the skills mike has learnt in keyword research, backlink building, and outsourcing, he could easily have a handfull of massive authority sites rocking in a couple of months.
Whilst you just carry on reading other peoples blogs and dreaming..
