April 12th, 2010

Another adsense sniper went up today…

Seems like adsense returned to normal this Sunday…my total was $124.43.  Still waiting on my Ezines to go through, when they do I’ll send another batch in from my outsourced Human Rewriter articles, see how that goes..by the end of this week I should be starting the UAW submissions.

Earnings For Today:

  • CB = $16.61
  • Adsense = $124.43
  • Total = $141.04

    @Mike & *Everyone*

    WTG on adsense today!!!

    I was wondering if you all could tell me if I am doing things right-on how I set up a site. I only have 1 and here is what I do:

    *Keyword search through Go0gle keyword tool. Exact is 1,900 and CPC $2.82 + additional keywords in the $3-$4 range

    *Competition is as follows for PR and Back links on the 1st page w/out quotes
    4 of them have ‘-‘
    1 of them have ‘0’
    2 of them have ‘2’
    3 of them have ‘3’

    The #1 pos. is held by a bad sniper site with the 0 PR and 5 back links. Most of the PR 3’s are at the bottom, and the search competition is less than 100k

    I started this site about a week ago, and so far I have
    *welcome post
    *Video tip
    *Main keyword content
    *3 inside pages
    *Did RSSBot
    *1 article to ezine
    *1 article to Associated Content
    *Did social marker

    I plan on making two more inside pages and submit 2 more articles to Ezine. When I get paid towards the end of the month I am going to buy UAW and MNF and probably the ClickBump template. My standings as of right now in quotes I am at 11 and w/out quotes I am at 15 I am getting very few visitors, and w/out quotes the other sniper is in 1st place also w/ over a 1 million in competition.

    I am very curious how others, besides Mike set up their sites, any takers? Sorry this was so long and thank you everyone for reading!

    @Kelly

    Hey Kelly, tnx..

    Well, the main keyword is a little low in the exact searches…with a CPC of $2.82, I wouldn’t go lower than 2.4k exact.

    Also, adding more inner pages is not going to make a huge difference, the only time it will is if you do a backlinking run on them with say UAW(and they have low comp), otherwise, they’re not going to wind up on the first page and really your main income stream will be from your main kw.

    Having more inner pages(that aren’t backlinked) can bring in ‘some’ long tail traffic, however it is good mainly so that your sites don’t look like they’re MFA sites.

    BTW, whenever you see another sniper site on page 1 of Google for that kw, as long as it doesn’t have a crazy # of backlinks and a high page rank, that’s pretty much a green light that you can take page 1 of Google.

    4 “-” and 1 “0” is also a serious green light.

    Only thing you’re missing is a UAW run, that will boost you up to page 1.

    Mike,

    On an “average” day, how many hours are you working your online business?

    Thanks

    @Mark in Nashville

    These days? Not much anymore, about 1- 1 1/2 hours including doing stuff for this site.

    Back when I was working hard with no outsourcing it was 6-8h/day…then when I started outsourcing the content it was around 2-3h/day…lately though I’m kinda taking it easy.

  5. April 12th, 2010 at 13:52 | #5

    Mike, that’s really cool… like most businesses, you put in the hours up front so you hopefully will have more free time later.

    for those that use WP, what is the best adsense plugin that won’t display on contact us, privcy policy, etc.

    I know there must be a good plugin to do so…i googled and tried 3-4 different ones that just didn’t work well…any suggestions?

    I used “why do work” just because it was easy and the first one I found. Now I just use the clickbump themes. You just put in the pub and channel info and it does the rest.

    @Slash30

    I was thinking about getting the ClickBump template, do you like it?

    Tony .. If you don’t want to use a plugin and you are using posts for your site and have a static home page, just create a page template with ads to use as your static home page. That way your home page can have ads on them, but your other pages don’t have ads on them. So, your index.php file does NOT have ads on it, but your index-adsense.php and your single.php do have ads on them.

    @kelly

    It’s pretty nice. It allowed me to pop out sites pretty fast and cuts down on the number of plugins I use. It is also updated frequently. It comes with 6-7 adsense themes and a ton of other options.

    They also have a plugin called jumpstart that you run once and it will set all of your default pages (about us, contact…)and default info. I’m going to use jumpstart on my next batch of sites.

    Hi Mike
    Don’t kick back too much… Summer is coming in Toronto so you can ease back then…
    Remember, you said you want to go from 200 adsense snipers to 400 or was it 500?

    I am now trying to get my new sites on hostgator and I recall that you said you went to them so that all your sites would not have the same IP address. Do you have small groups where some are add-on domains or do you make each domain separate so each one has its own IP address?

    I’m not sure of your reason, but I think it had something to do with google not liking the same IP for a lot of domains.
    Can you clarify that for us?

    Thanks…
    PS Kinda nice to be at a point where the heat is off for earnings, I bet. Good work.

    Mike
    This has nothing to do with internet, but thought you’d find it kind of interesting…

    I went to St Vincent once to visit a partner of mine who was sailing down there and we wanted to go to Barbados for the day but the plane connections were such that we would have had to stay overnight. So my partner said there was a guy that had a plane and maybe we could talk him into taking us over for the day.

    The guy accepted and he turned out to be fascinating. He had grown up in St Vincent and got an engineering degree from McGill in Toronto.

    He said he had a choice between working for an engineering firm in Toronto and fighting the lousy winter commute on the subway, or going back to St Vincent .

    Well, he went to St Vincent and began a company that makes plastic picnic ware and sells it all over the Caribbean… (low tech and pretty easy for an engineer)

    Kind of a good laid back lifestyle.

    But, he also said the employee problems are quite difficult. It is a matriarchal society… the women show up to work, but not the guys.

    Takes a while getting used to, but you soon realize that all your employees are women.

    I never followed up with with him, but assume he is still around doing the same.

    Regards

    Bill

    Hey Mike – I just stumbled on your blog here and glad I did. Love the strategy and doing a lot of site building myself. Thanks for providing all the great info and helping so many others along the way!

    @slash30
    Thanks for the clickbump tip – just bought it. I still need to buy the XSite Pro2…don’t tell Mike, you just set me back $57…or my wife…she needs new shoes…

    In all seriousness, I’m so thick-headed, i’ve heard you all mention this clickbump from time to time, had no idea it was an XFactor theme pack or whatnot.

    Hey Mike

    I’m gonna submit articles to ezine for backlinks, my question is, do you use only one account for all of your adsense snipers? Is it a good idea to use several accounts for different sniper sites?

    Thanks

    April 13th, 2010 at 09:17 | #17

    @ shane just use different names…

    Hey Mike,

    I know u had great success with UAW, but I was ranked #4 for about 2-3 months. Submitted a UAW article for backlinks last week and noticed i’m at #9 today. Weird to see it jump like that, esp when it’s been stable for so long. Do you see fluctuations in your ranking based on UAW? I used the rate of 15/day.

    upon further research, interestingly enough 3-4 of my other sites slightly dropped in ranking too with uaw submission. I am thinking/hoping it will make its way back. i.e. was in top 5, now sitting at 10. also these sites have been around for 3+ months.

    @Mark in Nashville

    Yup, I’m sure at some point I’ll get back into it and start building like crazy again too…

    @Bill

    Hey Bill, my main objective has always been to develop a full time income online, hence the name of the site…I feel like with all the sacrifice I’ve put in over the past year I’ve achieved that level…thus, I’m more focused on other aspects of my life at the moment, for one, I’m spending a lot more time in the gym, trying to get in good physical shape for summer.

    I haven’t lost track of or abandoned any of my goals…if I had, I’d have stopped updating this site and stopped working all together…I’m still putting in the work to reach them(ie: 375 or so Adsense snipers) I have a lifetime to achieve this and many other goals now since this has now become my new ‘profession’.

    There will come a time when I go all out obsessive on building my business up again, but that time isn’t now(although I still get a good amount done each week)…What is the reason you want to see me go all out at the moment? Is it motivation?

    If so, here’s a msg for pretty much everyone that reads this site… while motivation from reading this site is all well and good, it is short lived and won’t get you to your own personal goal…you need to take away the nuggets of information that are plastered across this site, put together a business plan and couple that with a powerful burning desire to succeed and make it happen.

    You need to do this with no reliance on anything but your passion/drive or strong sense of need/entitlement to your dream. This drive usually comes about by something traumatic or something which demands you change your current circumstances in order to get by or maintain a standard of living you feel entitled to.

    Some situations which tend to bring this on are:

    Having a baby and having to raise your standards so you can provide the life you want for your newborn, yourself and your family..

    Losing your job and being in a life or death struggle to develop income…

    Living paycheck to paycheck and feeling absolutely miserable about it..

    Hating your job with a passion etc..

    And ya Bill, I know a few people with stories similar to that..I used to work with one guy who had a family back in Thailand..He’d come to Toronto, do QA contract positions, earn a good sum of money, then go back to Thailand to live it up… He used to call Toronto “Slave land” where everyone is a slave to a corporation, or some such thing.

    @Terry

    Hey, thanks for leaving a comment Terry, glad you’re getting something out of it :>

    @Shane

    I use a *bunch* of different authors for submitting my Ezines..you don’t want ppl uncovering all your sites because they’re all under 1 account.

    @Tony

    My first question would be how much link text variation did you use per submission? If you’re linking back to your website with only 3 different anchor texts for instance, that’s no good…I’d aim for at least 6 variations.

    Also, how many UAW runs have you done? If you’ve done under 10, you’re not doing enough, that’s not enough to judge anything..

    Do them in batches of 30(at least 20 if you want to see noticeable improvements) and if you’re doing everything right, you’re guaranteed to see a boost in income *overall, over the course of the next 1-3 weeks*.

  20. April 13th, 2010 at 13:19 | #20

    Mike just put the “man” at the end of his name. Nicely put. I feel like I should call you “Mr. MikeMan” after that. 0_0

  21. April 13th, 2010 at 13:23 | #21

    @ Shane –

    What Mike said – I was going to correct Tony’s advice- it is NOT sufficient to merely use different *names* because the way a directory like EZA is set up, you can go to the RSS feed and find all the names in that account.

    Furthermore, I believe if you go to Bob Smith’s EZA author page (for instance, if you saw Bob’s Sniper site and wanted to do some competitive analysis) you could get the same effect.

    I’ve done that on a few authors (purely by accident: subscribed to a feed I found helpful, and then received all the alter-egos’ articles…).

    If you want to cloak, you need to open up diff EZA accounts.

    And notice: Mike said this in a sentence. It took me a paragraph…
