    YES MORE UPDATES. it doesn’t matter if you say, “All I did was rake it in. Keep building, lazy slugs…” it’s motivating, and I think you might need a break after kicking tail feathers and taking names.

    Work–>Rest–>Collect Checks–>Work if you want to…oh, and collect more checks! (Or direct deposit)

    I agree with James. Even if your post is just your daily income, its still motivating.

    It probably also helps keep you motivated. I have a blog like this, which isn’t public, and I find posting everyday keeps me working. Before I started recording my work everyday I slipped up a hell of a lot more often.

    Granted, you are making enough now that you don’t have to keep working, haha.

  3. April 7th, 2010 at 07:21 | #3

    I’m starting to worry about James. It’s just not healthy for one man to be so obsessed with another. I hope you keep your doors locked at night, Mike.

    hi,Mike,i have a problem . Recently , i find a keyword (about 3 words),when i search by google adwords tool (exact), i get 1000 results per month ; MNF ’s results is the same .but i search by wordtracker , get 6000 results per month (200 per day *30=6000). why they have such difference. Which i shall trust ?

    Morever ,i find some keywords: google adwords tool (exact) results >>wordtracker rather than <<,,why they have such difference. Which i shall trust ?

    Mike, thanks for the update. I agree with you on keeping balance in your life. I took a couple of days away from the computer over the weekend and it really felt good.

    For those of you that want to design your own WP Themes: http://www.wpdesigner.com/2007/02/19/so-you-want-to-create-wordpress-themes-huh/

    I started doing this, and was like, “Yea Right.” The coding for like the style.css does not bother me, but the SQL crap does. I think I am just gonna suck it up and pay $$ for an ugly theme.

    Mike I have to ask where you are located at, because you have the day totals in the morning!

  7. April 7th, 2010 at 12:04 | #7

    Keep posting. I read your blog every morning, It’s good to see some dedicated IM’ers.

    wordtracker numbers are always wayyyy off like this…ive even built sites specifically around wordtracker keywords and its never what it says it is…stay away from wordtracker, just my personal experience and even though go0gle can be off at times, its going to be your best bet.

    @JamestheJust on Elance

    haha, alright good to know it’s not wasted effort.

    Ya, creating a blog and having something to be accountable to helps…you eventually reach a point though where the positive habit is so ingrained in you that you no longer need the ‘training wheels’ so to speak though.

    Ya, just pick one to work with and eventually you will become attuned to what the numbers you’re working with translate to in terms of the success of each site you produce out of them.

    @Mark in Nashville

    To be honest, I’m never one for balance…all the success in my life has come from me being obsessive..

    Before I was into IM, I was really into bodybuilding….I lost weight and got down to a musuclar 10% bodyfat by completely obsessing over diet and exercise.

    When I developed a full time income, I also obsessed with that as you can see here in my online journal..

    Now though, I’m kinda taking a break to enjoy the fruits of my labor I guess…

    Ya, I work crazy hours, I’m from Toronto, EST…I need to do the daily totals after 3 AM EST as that is when Clickbank and Adsense #’s final out for the day.

    Thanks for the input Paul.

  10. April 7th, 2010 at 20:26 | #10

    I am *not* obsessed w/mike – I mean, nevermind that I spend more time on this blog than he does just so I can glean some of his link magic voodoo.

    In all seriousness, though, I found this blog just in time – 1/2 the ppl on my block were working for a huge local employer that cut 40% of their jobs…ppl who were @ this place for decades, and they lost pension, hours….etc.

    I come here for quotes like this from Mikeman:

    @Mark in Nashville

    To be honest, I’m never one for balance…all the success in my life has come from me being obsessive..

    OK. brother from another mother – I’m the same way – so now I don’t feel crazy. pretty soon my wife will stop asking me to go to bed earlier than 2-3, just because I work for her brother by 7:30…

    That’s what Ginseng, Vitamins A,C,E, B and D, Gingko Biloba and green tea are for…

    One last thought and I need to get back to my client – I absolutely needed this blog. You are who you hang out with. The net is full of ppl *not making it online* and I don’t necessarily want to wind up that way (no offense, we all start someplace).

    So, Carrie…I admit. I am wearing an “I <3 MikeMan" t-shirt I made from tiling his picture from this blog…so what?

    Give me your shirt size, and you can join me. Coffee mugs to follow.
    [Quit acting like it's a mental disorder…you're sounding like my shrink now.]

    Before I was into IM, I was really into bodybuilding….I lost weight and got down to a musuclar 10% bodyfat by completely obsessing over diet and exercise.

    I wasn’t in a good place w/the family business (run by in-laws) – so I thought I was next. Anyhow, Elance has doubled my income, but unless I had found this blog, or one like it, I’d just have traded one job for a bunch of gigs…rather than building a blogpire of sorts (btw, the blogpire fella, he’s a bloody genius himself if you haven’t read his story. cool kid.)

  11. April 7th, 2010 at 20:28 | #11

    @JamestheJust on Elance
    uh…yeah, ignore the copied text after the last “]”…

    That last paragraph was meant to be deleted – I didn’t want to come off sounding like a braggart about my Elance $$!

  12. April 7th, 2010 at 21:51 | #12

    Hey, wanna hear something COOL?

    So lately I’ve noticed my clicks were down…and then I check today and again, low CTR…

    Well, no $#!t batman, some hack has their code on my php.

    The ONLY other place I gave access to my site – well, two places because I’m a $#% genius –

    SEOLinkVine and UAW

    Their auto-posting services…

    @JamestheJust on Elance

    I think its fair to clickbomb them.

  15. April 7th, 2010 at 22:08 | #15

    me too. tell me how and it’s on…i sent the big G an email and asked they ban that AdSents thug from the face of GooGl3 Earth…seriously ticks me off.

    April 8th, 2010 at 01:00 | #16

    @JamestheJust on Elance

    haha, all you have to do is click his ads a bunch of times. I think having google deal with them directly is a much better idea though.

    Bust seriously dude, you use ‘Ginseng, Vitamins A,C,E, B and D, Gingko Biloba and green tea’ to get your work done? All I drink is mountain dew. I must be really missing out!

  17. April 8th, 2010 at 01:04 | #17

    I wash it down with the new raspberry dew, which has Ginseng in it…or with green tea.

  18. Josh
    April 8th, 2010 at 01:34 | #18

    @JamestheJust on Elance

    I didn’t know there was a new Raspberry dew. I will have to check that out.

    Maybe we should all just start taking something like adderall, then we will really get a lot of work done!

  19. April 8th, 2010 at 01:53 | #19

    Yeah, really! I’m in the process of re-writing 10 articles 2 x each, spinning one version, writing landing pages…I get distracted easily between the 40th time of re-writing content. no, not kidding… Mike’s blog is a good respite between articles.

    April 8th, 2010 at 11:18 | #20

    @JamestheJust on Elance

    Haha, thanks man..

    That sucks that someone is sticking their own adsense code into your sites…I’m not sure how those autoposting sites work, but sounds like the lesson is learned.

  21. April 8th, 2010 at 16:14 | #21

    @JamestheJust on Elance
    Wait, how did you find that (someone’s adsense on your site). I don’t understand how that could happen.

  22. April 8th, 2010 at 22:42 | #22

    I suspected something was “up,” with a few zero click days…so I checked my code, found the new code had replaced mine in my .php file, and sent Go0gl3 a nice note demanding they fire-bomb the guy’s house using Googl3 earth satellite pix…

    To be fair – I *did* have TWO trojan viruses that my virus software caught…not sure how long they were on there, but I have scans scheduled every other day or so.

    I turn off those scans when I’m working late for Elance clients – the scan disrupts my typing speed (I type about 70 or so wpm), the screen freezes…still working out the kinks.

    At the *same time* I began receiving articles from UAW and SEOLinkVine…so I just blacklisted everything.

    I wouldn’t use those autoposts on my blogs for multiple other reasons (off-topic posts, tags, additional users being added to my admin list…no, Toto, we are not in Kansas anymore)…

  23. April 9th, 2010 at 07:13 | #23

    @JamestheJust on Elance
    Sorry James, I am still feeling dense. Are these WP sites? When you say php I assume you mean you have a WP template with a separate php file for your adsense code?

    Sounds like someone hacked a site (or more?) and replaced your pub-id with theirs? I just didn’t even know that was possible so want to make sure I understand just in case. Thanks 🙂

  24. April 9th, 2010 at 07:49 | #24

    Don’t feel dense – unless you’re trying to walk on water. In which case, if you don’t feel dense, you might sink…safety tip…

    WP sites they are (Yoda voice)
    Yes another php file/template

  25. April 9th, 2010 at 07:52 | #25

    @Kasey Langton
    I missed this – YOU HAVE I <3 MIKEMAN MOUSE PADS?! You're holding out, Kasey — and I thought we was pals.

    Spit shake and blood-oath me on this: I get a mouse pad, if you get a Tee?

    its craft projects for the kids, lol!

  29. April 9th, 2010 at 19:58 | #29

    @Kasey Langton

    I’m a venture capitalist, Mike. I profit merely by selling your “autographed” coffee mugs, T-shirts, etc. at conventions.

    ((No worries – I’d give you a cut if I was *that* brazen!))

    I’m a writer. It’s all in my head…

    …or I’m crazy…

  30. April 9th, 2010 at 19:58 | #30

    @JamestheJust on Elance
    BUT – I bet you could make this on some drop-ship joint online, like Cafe Press and the like…

    and if you do, I wear a size [CENSORED]…keep that in mind.
