Day 311 – Site Moved

March 12th, 2010

OK, so it looks like the site move is finally done…

That was a pain in the ass and left me out of pocket $150, but it seems like the more people that find out about me, the more jerk offs there are trying to dig up all they can on me and/or sabotage my sites.

I’ve gotten some input from a few of my friends that I should probably either:

A.  Shut down the site

B. At least drop down to a weekly update

Regarding option A… the reasoning behind that is this site is attracting some people who don’t have the best intentions and the site is becoming more of a liability than anything else.  It was also mentioned to me that I’ve given enough about how I do things up to this point and if people can’t figure things out based on what I’ve posted up over all this time they likely never will…which does carry some weight, I mean the info is all already up here documenting every day of how I went from $300 – 5k/month.   My site starts off in May of 2009 where I made around 1k, however if you were at the Niche Blogger, you’d be able to see a thread of mine where I logged what I was doing on a daily basis from Dec 2008 – May 2009.

Regarding option B… the reasoning is that I’m often having to answer some of the same questions over and over and the 1 or more hours I spend on my site daily could be better spent building my business.

Anyways, I have not yet made up my mind regarding the above options just yet, but I must say, I’m not happy with some of the ppl this site is attracting.

Earnings For Today:

  • CB = $33.22 – 2 CB sniper sales
  • Hops = 140
  • Adsense = $113.94
  • Total = $147.16

    Hi Mike,

    What you might make option C is make a membership where you charge a small amount per month. That will have the unwanted people move on and for you it will justfy the time you put into it.
    The info you are giving away is way beyond what is out there

    Hey Mike,

    Sorry to hear all the trouble this is causing you. All I can say is that I appreciate what you’ve done up to this point. It’s been a great help to me. It really was great before.

    Some people can be douches!

    It would suck to see your blog shutdown man…

    This idea may sound ridiculous to you, but the site would become much less of a liability if you moved it to a blogger blog. There is barely any customization but you could keep your domain name, though the URL structure would be destroyed.

    To deal with repetitive comments you could just direct them to your “read me first page”. Seriously, if someone isn’t willing to read over that page and the articles you link to then they probably aren’t worth helping.

    You could also consider just starting a forum of some kind. I have noticed the conversations in your comments between your readers have increased, and you could ditch comments entirely.

    To all:
    ive spent the last few days looking for a solid amzon plugin, as ive mentioned before about wprobot but ive found a plugin called reviewazon and its specially for amazon, its a lil more expensive then wprobot if you buy the unlimited version with the amazon module.

    reviewazon looks freakin’ bad ass! anyone with amazon sites should check it out, just type in reviewazon on youtube and you can see it in action. so i think imma ditch wprobot (glad i didnt purchase it yet) and go with reviewazon

    the reason for the comment is to see if anyone here is using a better plugin than reviewazon and if so, do you mind sharing?

    being a gamer is an even more reason to stack more than one monitor, heres an example

    You might want to check out Affiliate Niche Script too 🙂

    I’d be really sad to see this site go. Like has been suggested, perhaps it’s time to monetize it by charging a small fee and having a forum etc so that people can discuss the method and ideas. That would keep the genuinely serious and helpful people around and add to your income.

  8. March 13th, 2010 at 12:47 | #8

    So Mike, how do you think this guy tracked down your sites? It sounds like it had something to do with the server this site is on plus some of your niche sites?

    If true, I didn’t know that was even possible and it is a bit disturbing. Sorry, that stinks.

    That sucks that people do that; especially when you have worked so hard. I do not even know how people find your information; because you do not even state your whole name so not sure how they are finding your information.

    Sorry to hear that they are doing that!!

    @Kasey Langton
    You might have a look at my plugin also. It’s called Amaniche and my customers tell me that if they compare it to the others they like mine beter. It’s cheaper and has more functionality in it. Also Rosalind Gardner (author of Affiliate Handbook) loves the plugin. An example site is http://bmxfreestylebike.net/ made in a few minutes using the plugin and a template I created.

    I think I would really miss the daily updates as they are a source of inspiration for me.

    I would encourage you to find some security software for WP. After seeing your experience with hackers, I know I will be.

    Or… seriously consider a membership area for say $3 a month where you share more details. The members could have a private forum were we could collaborate and maybe we could form some working partnerships.

    Just my 2 cents… but it could be $3 bucks with a membership site… LOL!!!

    @ DC –

    Quit with that talk. You’re offending a necessary hygienic tool…

    @ MikeMan –

    Seriously, you have to protect your interests. I found that comment quite disturbing myself, and went to “xxxx” dot com, and equally found it disturbing that what I thought was a private domain registration is actually not…and was able to find about 22 or so of my other sites.

    I do appreciate your hard work, and I’m going against the tide here when I say this:

    1) Do what you think is best for *you.* You don’t owe any of us anything. I totally agree with your assessment that you’ve answered *tons* of the same questions, and I think a eBook may be in order. I know this freelance author… 🙂

    (you could really make this an e-book, if you chose, sell it and offer professional advice via email for a membership fee, just a thought.)

    2) You need to ask yourself a hard question, which of course you have by now, and it’s the cost-benefit. What’s the ROI? I don’t mean monetarily speaking per se, but what’s it actually worth to your investment in time? In security? Does the good *for you* outweigh the risk *to you*?

    I know, it sounds selfish-minded, but you do need to weigh it out like that. There’s nothing wrong with MikeMan looking out for Mike, man…

    I’m in your court, Mike, I think you need to weigh it out carefully, and nobody’s going to hate your guts, stalk you, or fault you for it.

    Last thought –

    I would die. Just saying. This sucks. I’m going to find a bridge to jump off of…

    I now dedicate the song, which is one of my wife’s fave’s from back in the day, so to speak, “Please, Don’t Go, Girl” by New Kids On The Block.

    I mean…”Please, Don’t Go, Mike…”

    Just visited the Amaniche site – looks good, just a tip: your page has a soft level of urgency, with a 2009 copyright at the bottom.

    I’m in sales, I get the need for urgency, but I think you may need to update that to “copyright 2010” just to make it more feasible.

    @ MikeMan –

    For the record, that wasn’t meant to sound like, “Kick rocks, who needs you,” hope you didn’t take it that way. I’ve appreciated every tip, they work, and I love BookMarkingDemon. Especially since my “fictitious idiot neighbor” went in and manually approved all those accounts.

    Only to discover that I should have watched the vid’s – they apparently have thought of this step and you can verify these emails right from the software interface. Yeah. Time saver. Still love it – nice backlinks!

    From a perspective of the subjective effects your site and posts have to help motivate me, I wish you’d stay on. From an objective perspective, you //have to do what’s right for you\\.

    Obviously, it means to stay on… 🙂

    in Mikes case there was over 2k sites on the IP he was using…this is common with shared hosting plans. so someone had to literally take the time to sift thru all 2k sites to find mikes footprint to know which were his sites…this can literally takes days, weeks. someone was most def out to cause destruction. most likely someone hatin’ on the income mikeman brings in each month. i always say…if you dont have haters then your not doing something right.

    hey Edwin, looks like a pretty nice plugin. im looking for more of something that takes an item and makes it a post, title as title, description as the body of post, etc. just like reviewazon. im just wondering if there is anything a tad bit better than reviewazon. but i think its go at this time. wprobot will do the same but its not amazon specific, it does others things as well and it gets a lil screwy ive heard. with reviewazon you can search for amazon products inside wordpress and pick the items you want to promote and it posts the item as a post and you can drip feed too which makes it great to rank for long-tails. which is what im mainly looking for.

    @ All –

    Just used the “Easy Privacy Policy” plugin for WP — great plugin for privacy policies!

    The out-bound link that supposedly links to “Easy Privacy Policy” WP page went to a competitor’s niche site.

    How funny is that?!

    Hey thanks Edwin, ya…I know I can do that, that would take time to figure out how to put together though I’d have that as a last resort probably as I’d rather not charge.

    Thanks Slash

    Thanks DC

    Thanks for the ideas Josh.. I talked to a friend of mine who has a site and setup a forum and he mentioned to me it’s no less weight off the shoulders, it’s actually more, so I probably wouldn’t do that.

    regarding the blogger blog, you mean like what Grizzly has done? Not sure how I’d keep the domain with that, doesn’t it wind up blogname.blogspot.com?

    @Kasey Langton

    Holy hell, nice vid :> Ya, that would definately be cool.. I guess its something to consider for casual gaming.

    I think that the first thing I’d do would be to drop my updates as my primary objective is to work on my adsense revenue..rather than manage a subscription site.

    Carrie, it’s actually pretty easy to uncover someone’s network if you really wanted to..It’s something I’ve known about for a long time but didn’t discuss as it could obviously be used against me.

    So ya, I won’t go into how he did it, except to say that with a reseller account, my sites are distributed across maybe around 5 diff IP’s(per reseller acct & I have 3) and he was able to check 1 of those IP’s which had 2k+ sites on it and sift through to find sites that might belong to me.

    @Mark in Nashville

    $3/month wouldn’t get rid of the wankers. I’d also rather build my adsense up then manage a membership site at $3 a piece.

    @JamestheJust on Elance

    New Kids on the Block, hahaa! Ya..I had to edit your post and take out the site.

    Also since re-installing everything I lost my white list and and it seems like your posts were getting caught in the spam filter :/

    As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t think I’d go the route of making a membership site as my main focus is adsense right now and passive income.

    That’s also why I wouldn’t do professional e-mail help or an E-Book, it wouldn’t be passive…I finally got away from having to have a job, don’t want to go back to that…I like knowing that I can stop what I’m doing for 1 or 2 months and still have money coming in.

    @Kasey Langton

    He could have done it in a few hours, but still, to meticulously go through all that trouble of sifting through those sites..geez.

    After reading your reply I know for sure i need to rewrite my salesletter as it does all that reviewazon does and wprobot and even more. Maybe this video i made showing how i created that demo site explains it better http://wpamaniche.com/video/amaniche_update.html It an older version of AManiche as it has more features now but like i said i will change the salesletter

    I understand. If you do decide making it a memership kind of site I am sure enough people ere are willing to pay a small fee to be able to tap into what you have to say.

    I actually host all of my snipers on blogger with domain names.

    All you have to do is create the blog and then go to settings>publishing>custom domain>switch to advanced settings

    Then enter your domain name and change your A records.

  19. March 15th, 2010 at 01:43 | #19

    Edwin – I’d love to have your email because this has nothing to do with Mike’s blog…

    Does Amaniche allow you to also use AdSense? Silly question, I know. I have a few domains that I think would be better as Amazon sites than AdSense, but curious because I have a few I think could do equally well either way…
