Hey Hjalte thanks,

When I setup a site I do kinda do things my own way. For one, I make a static page as my main page and have that be the review of the product. As far as the welcome and tip posts those remain posts that they'll only see if they navigate to it from the recent posts section.

When I do the review page I make it out like a story as George mentioned in the book though...and as far as selecting the keywords for the sniper sites, that I kinda do by ear...it's something that comes with practice and I don't always get it right, but I don't worry about a failed $10 domain here or there.

And Dee, NP. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a msg...

Hi mike...
Great that things are working for you so well...

I have a question for you, When you set up sniper sites, do you follow the Method in the gogle sniper book or do "play it by ear" so to say?

NP Jen,

Hey Christy, it's possible to overtake EzineArticles, but for your situation, it's hard for me to say without seeing everything you're up against so my advice to you would be to try for it and see what happens..

That's the only way you'll develop the ability to discern what is a good keyword vs a bad keyword, not by following some strict rules, but through experience and using your intuition. You've got to be willing to make some mistakes to get to this level of understanding though.

Hi Mike,
Another follower here from TNB. I have 4 TNB blogs and am now working on my first Sniper Site and enjoying it. What is your experience with keywords with ezinearticles on number one in Google?
I found a keyword with ezine articles on number 1 and 2. The rest of the pages are below PR3. The searches per month are 12.100 (phrase).
P.S. Thanks for letting us follow your progress.

Hey Susan, good to see you still around...

Lisa, the truth is the whole 7000 competition marker is NOT a good way of determining if a keyword is worth going after. If you use that as a marker you will miss out on sooooo many opportunities.

I myself don't even HAVE a marker anymore, once you do this enough you will be able to "play it by ear" and analyze the page 1 competition of Google on a case by case basis.

I go more based on my individual analysis of the competition on the first page than anything else.

What that means is I look at each of the competing pages on page 1, I check to see what the PR is for all the sites...then I make further assessments...If I can't find any PR3's or lower on the first page, the keyword is generally not worth trying for. If I find nothing lower than a PR3, I check to see how many backlinks the PR3's have and if the title of the PR3 links is targeting the keyword...if there are few links for any of the PR3's or if they are not really targeting the keyword, there is a chance to overtake them...

But usually the keywords I go for have at least 2 or so PR2's or lower on the first page that I can easily overtake.

As far as competition goes it's secondary to my assessment of the 1st page competition..but if I check it and it's something crazy like 150k+ I USUALLY just forget about it, but I have no hard rule when it comes to competition.

With that said, only a few of my sites have under 7k competition, most are probably around 10-30k and some are up at 40-60k and I have plenty of page 1 rankings..

Mike, I have a question for you. Are you really finding that many keywords that meet the requirements for a sniper site (3000 searches, less than 7,000 competition) or are you using your own numbers? I sometimes search for hours and can't find anything close, so it just amazes me that you can pump these out so quickly.
