Day 292 – 15 EZine Submissions

February 21st, 2010

Today I decided to take some of my outsourced UAW articles and submit them to Ezine Articles for some backlinks before I subit them to UAW… It takes longer than you’d think to get the submissions entered in and submitted even though they’re already written ..

And in other news, I’m behind again in getting to all your comments :/ย  It seems like the last few weeks there have been a ton of questions, and as much as I want to help everyone out here, it’s starting to get a bit overwhelming..

There are times when I spend upwards of 1 hour to respond to everyone, add that to the time it takes me to make these posts on a daily basis and you can see that it’s taking away from my productivity (and as you know, I’m not getting paid for this either).

I’ll still try to get to everyone’s questions but there might come a time where I won’t be able to get back with everyone. I don’t want to leave people thinking that I’ve ignored their posts, so I’m not sure what I’m going to do about that..I’d hate to do it but I might need to cut down my daily updates to weekly updates or something.

I’ve got to spend some time assembling the new keywords for my outsourcers to work on starting next week soon, also got to find a few more new niches to delve into…

Earnings For Today:

  • CB = $95.55 – 3 CB Sniper sales
  • Hops = 161
  • Adsense = $95.67
  • Total = $191.22

    Mikeman,
    I use onlywire[dot]com for my bookmarking. I have been thinking about bookmarking all my single posts as well…you think this well help with rankings? or at least rankings for my other posts? or do you think it will be wasting time?

  2. February 21st, 2010 at 09:34 | #2

    Kasey,

    I outsource all of my bookmarking. I hire people through odesk to submit every page I publish to the sites at socialposter.com.

    Mike,

    Have you ever considered trying to monetize the blog to make it worth the time? I know you have some affiliate ads on the side, but I think there’s a lot more you could do to monetize the blog, without harming the user experience.

    First off, if I were you I’d be building an opt-in e-mail list. Give away something free in exchange, like write a small e-book or report. List building is where the money’s at.

    You could also consider selling private ad space, check out OIO Publisher.

    And then there’s about 15 other things you could do as well ๐Ÿ™‚

    I agree with Lee above. You are actually supplementing your income with affiliate sales from this blog. Just monetize this site and you can definitely earn as much as you get from your sniper sites. Build a list Mike and I will definitely be onboard.

  6. February 21st, 2010 at 14:56 | #6

    MikeMan –

    Once you monetize the site, Lee gets 5% and Vince another 3%…
    ๐Ÿ™‚

    @ TheDebtHawk –

    I’ve seen those profiles where someone in the Philippines or elsewhere will specialize in that sort of thing. What is a typical run like? Cost wise, as well as results?

    I’m personally sticking with MikeMan’s approach, but curious for future enterprises.

    Mike, I totally understand how you don’t have time to keep answering questions here, but you do sorta get paid here since you get some referrals. So when thinking about how to handle this blog, you may want to consider your referral income.

    But yes, weekly updates may be a better use of your time although some of your readers may start a mutiny ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. February 21st, 2010 at 18:05 | #8

    Frankly. I don’t think that Mike should feel obligated to keep answering questions because of referrals. And I would hardly call it an income in comparison to his main source income

    If Mike never answers another question. He has already given more than enough value to his readers and based on that I see his referal income increasing just on the value he has already added

    There really is no reason for any of us not to be at the same level as Mike. Heck he has already given everyging in his tool box. Just take action on what he has already laid out.

    Really no need for more questions

    Totally agree with Dee…

    Thing is, Mike, the more money you make the more you will be an authority in peoples eyes, and the more questions you will get… and more readers…

    Could you make it clear that questions will be answered, maybe, in your next post, if you feel the question is valid an relevant, or just that questions may or may not be answered at all… due to time constraints?

    I can see that more and more of your time will be spent on this blog…

    I truly love coming here and read about your successes. I also have learned a lot, and it really helps to keep me on track. I so do hope that you continue this blog…

    Maybe we can brainstorm some kind of solution? Cuz you ARE OK with posting, correct? It is mostly all the questions that bogs you down?

    Let’s put our brilliant IM minds together!!

    This no hit on Carrie but I think one thing we may fail to realize is that this is not a membership site where Mike would get income. Its definitely not the same as getting referals where no one is required to purchase anything. But people have done so based on Mikes success with the tools that he uses. That does not make him obligated. But a membership site would….

    Shut up, Dee! ๐Ÿ™‚

    I mean, c’mon, let’s not turn this into another Warrior Forum – I get TONS of info just from reading all your questions and what Mike’s already noted. Don’t encourage the man!

    MikeMan, for the record – totally understand, man. If you never answer another question again, no worries – and I’m with Dee in the sense that you’ve answered plenty.

    You hardly need to add another bit of input, unless you change your game up. I have 2 sites up, btw, and 5 more in the works – waiting on my writers at this point. Thanks for your encouragement to push it.

    I’m pushing it.

    @Kasey Langton

    Bookmarking every post can never be a bad thing..it’s extra backlinks. Granted you’re not likely to get a heck of a lot out of it, maybe around 5 registered backlinks max, but every little bit helps.

    the question is do you have the time to do that or is your time better spent elsewhere, like doing UAW runs on those pages which will get you 25-30 backlinks?

    I’d rather be spending my time with other backlinking methods..you could give it a shot if you want though, or outsource it…for some keywords all it takes are 5 backlinks to get the page on page 1..

    @b&c

    I mentioned before on my blog that I might start up EZines again sometime…

    The staples of my backlinking method are: BMD / Digg / RSS Feed Submits & UAW…

    After that, I’ve experimented with supplemental backlinking like with BLS & Scrapebox… Ezines is something I may do now and then as well.

    @Lee

    Ya…I know.. The thing is when I set out to build this blog, I didn’t want to become just another IM guy. I wanted to do something different…to provide a lot of free/detailed content and track my journey without any expectation of anything in return.

    I’d rather spend my time building up my passive income then trying to monetize this blog.

    So ya, don’t know if that’s the route for me..

    @Vince

    Thanks Vince..

    @James the Just

    haha

    @Carrie

    Hey Carrie, you need to understand though that I created this blog with 0% intention of making money…even those ads of what I use on the side are only put there at the request of others, if I wasn’t asked by several people to put that up, I’d have been perfectly fine with no links of any kind.

    As I mentioned above, I set out to build something different here.. I noticed no one has ever really chronicled their IM journey in detail and on a daily basis…I had not seen how others grew their income on a day to day basis and I thought that I could fill that gap.

    I also wanted to do that completely free, which is what I’ve done. Now I do appreciate everyone who has contributed and continues to contribute the referral commissions but I have purposely made this a free site and frankly I feel I have given a heck of a lot with no expectation of anything in return.

    If I was looking for money, the time I spend on this site would be MUCH better spent just building my passive income. Getting metaphysical here, everything is about energy..I feel I’ve put in A LOT more energy into giving everyone a glimpse into what I’m doing and how I built my business in exchange for what I’m getting in return.

    Now I do appreciate all the contributions, but you have to understand that it would be much more fair for me to charge $15/month for all the information I have on my site + access to me spending my time answering everyone’s questions…please don’t take all that I’ve put into this site for granted.

    @Dee

    Thanks Dee..

    @Me

    Hey Evita, ya, I’ve noticed…there’s been a spike ever since I reached the 50k/year level..

    Ya, I’m OK with posting..I’ll do my best to answer questions for now, we’ll see how things go..

    Glad you’re getting a lot out of the blog.

    @Dee

    I probably wouldn’t make this a membership site though as that would change the whole relationship with you guys, turn it into one big business transaction :/

    @ Mike of course not. Just trying to make sure people under what circumstances answering questions would warrant an obligation

    @ Mike

    I can totally appreciate your frustration. This just may be why all of those “guru’s” are so elusive ๐Ÿ˜‰

    You know, although I don’t post, I do lurk an awful lot. Personally speaking, I find that your day to day posts keeps me motivated to keep building and building even on those days when I’d rather just take a break instead. So do know that you are valuable to many people, even if we don’t express it enough.

    One idea for you might be to open up a forum on this site and even go so far as to hire a moderator who is familiar with the same techniques as you are. Or if not a mod, just let us all have at it. Letting some questions be handled user to user would free you up a bit and (hopefully) make you feel less obligated. You could even close comments altogether if you chose to.

    Just a thought. Hope it helps, but most of all thank you for all of the great info you have provided here.

    @Amber

    Hmm…ya.

    Thanks for posting on how the site’s helped :> I think I’d want to keep it to the site rather than have a site & a forum, not sure if that would lead to more or less typing on my part.

  18. February 24th, 2010 at 17:10 | #18

    @Mike,

    Sorry, just reading now but what I said was completely misunderstood.

    I actually don’t think your obligated to post and answer questions, I was just saying that at least there is a little bit of compensation there as you said “Iโ€™m not getting paid for this either”. But I totally realize you give alot more than you get monetarily which I suspect you do just b/c you are a nice guy.

    And I would like to point out that I have been reading your blog from the beginning and I read EVERY post, yet I very rarely ask you questions and when I do, I never EXPECT an answer. I have always appreciated the free information you give away and in no shape or form meant to imply otherwise.

    Nowhere did I ever say that Mike was obligated to answer questions – go back and read my original comment. I just said he might want to consider his referral income when considering whether it was worth his time to write here. That’s all.

    Sorry Mike that you had to spend even more of your limited time to respond to something I never meant to imply. If I comment again I will try to be more clear.

  21. February 24th, 2010 at 19:09 | #21

    @ Carrie. I apologize if I offended you with my comment

    No you did not say word that Mike was obligated. However your statement for him to consider the referrals he gets is an implied sense of obligation whether you meant it to come across as that or not
    Based on your original comment and now, I still stand by my original comment.

    Carrie please don’t take it personal. I can definitely appreciate what you had to say and offered up my own opinion. We certainly don’t all agree all the time and if we did could become quit boring …. LOL. No harm intended. That’s all I have to say on that.

    Its Mike Time! Cheers

  22. February 24th, 2010 at 19:33 | #22

    @Dee I wasn’t offended, just didn’t like coming back to a thread were I was lectured for something I never said. It’s not your fault if you misread me, that’s a common problem with written communication, but I don’t understand why you would say “However your statement for him to consider the referrals he gets is an implied sense of obligation whether you meant it to come across as that or not”.

    It seems I am stuck with your interpretation of what I said despite my clarification of my comment. That’s your choice.

    But since I do value Mike’s time and opinion, just let me say one more time (to Mike) that I NEVER meant to imply in ANY way that you were obligated to blog or to answer questions. That would just be idiotic.

  23. February 24th, 2010 at 21:27 | #23

    @ Carrie –

    For the record, Mike is NOT obligated to answer!!! Sheesh!!!

    @Carrie

    Hey, np Carrie..

    Also the reason why I give more than I get back is because money was never a part of the equation to begin with..I was just looking to share as much info about my journey and fill in that gap as I hadn’t seen anyone else really do that before.
