Day 248 – Adsense Sniper 122 & 123 + Site Sabotage

January 8th, 2010

Got another 2 sniper sites up…also noticed something odd…

Most of my good sites have around 30-50 backlinks however one of them I noticed had 200 backlinks out of nowhere…

I checked the backlinks and noticed that I had a TON of backlinks made on forums and a bunch of comment backlinks…they were made on strange foreign sites like .ru, .de, .fr, .jp and .kr ….amongst others.

One of the links was even on some forum which looked to be some nude pic forum.Β  I also noticed that the name of the guy on some of the forums he was posting my link was “buffRussia”, so it looks to me like someone from Russia tried to sabotage my site.

Most of the links were built on December 28 and it was not anything I had outsourced..

You know what the funny thing is though?Β  This attempt totally backfired as I went from ranking around #8-9 of page 1 to #1! :

me: 1. = me
2. pr 3
3. pr 3
4. pr 3
5. pr 2
6. indented “-”
7. pr 3
8. pr 2
9. pr 3
10. pr 4

This is a PR 0 site too BTW…

Anyways, I’m interested to how he did it, because it worked damn well! hahhaa!

In other news, it looks like my Clickbank income seems to be back up…my average over the last 14 days has been $697, that’s about $1,400 – 1,500/month.

Earnings For Today:

  • CB = $50.23 – 2 CB sniper sales
  • Hops = 173
  • Adsense = $76.59
  • Total = $126.82

    I guessing the guy used the XRumer to spam out a load of links, probably thousands of them and these are the fist to ‘stick’. Will be interesting to see if the site holds it rank. Please keep us informed on its progress.

    Mike,

    I am really impressed with the growth of your adsense income. I was wondering, out of all of your sites now, how many are making above $10 a day, $5 a day, $3 a day and $1 a day? I think that this info will give us readers a better clue as to how diverse the income is.

    One thing that I have seen in a lot of my adsense sites is that a few sites make all of my money.

    Mike

    It is sad to see what some people will do just to try to make money. The thing is that the internet is such a huge place; we can all make money without trying to sabotage anyone else.

    Hopefully your site will hold its place. I am glad that you are doing as well as you are; you deserve it. Thanks for sharing your progress I have really learned a lot just from reading your site.

    Hi Mike!

    What tool or website do you use for backlink checking? Lots of sites give different feedback on backlinks, and how do they get the information? Google?

    @Craig

    Ya, probably something like that..I’ll let you know if anything changes with the site.

    @TheDebtHawk.com

    Hey, ya, I did this before when I was making around $40-50/day, it hasn’t really changed much since then, you have a few sites that make a lot, you have some middle ground guys and some stragglers.

    Also, some of the sites that are at the top of the earnings may drop to the middle on some days, only to jump back up to the top the following day.

    And the sites that show up in the middle are not always consistent daily earners, some of them earn every other day or so…

    As for the stragglers, those can be unpredictable which sites pop up there.

    Here’s a fictional breakdown of what a day could look like:

    Thanks Susan, glad you’re still getting a lot out of the site.

    @Shane

    Hey Shane, for backlink checking of other sites I’m going to compete with for page 1 of Google, I use SEO for Firefox, a plugin for Firefox. I then check the “Y! Backlinks” – Yahoo backlinks…which comes from Yahoo of course. Yahoo shows more of your actual backlinks than Google does.

    Hi mike, out of your first page sites, what is the most competition in quotes that you were able to rank for?

  7. January 8th, 2010 at 16:52 | #7

    Hi Mike
    I see you are using Magic Article Rewriter. I bought Mass Article Creator and Mass Article Submitter and was very disappointed. Submitter doesn’t submit and Creator makes you come up with your own synonyms and then spouts garbage.
    Should I get Magic Article Rewriter, or is it just like Creator?

    Thanks for your good work.

    @Kasey Langton

    Hey Kasey, Well.. that’s actually not something I know off the top of my head and would take me a long time to figure out..but I can tell you I don’t make a habit of going for anything over 100k in quotes and that I can rank for something with 100k competition easy enough if I’ve done my kw research right.

    @Bill

    Hmm, well, I’ve never tried Magic Article Submitter. I like Magic Article Rewriter as it has a database which can save alternate words so you can build up a database of synonyms.

    I also like the magic tokens database which although is really buggy and doesn’t produce grammatically correct spun syntax, it still helps me cut down on the time it takes me to spin an article.

    I found content boss was best for grammatically correct auto spinning, although that is $30/month rather than a 1 time fee.

    As for which you should get, it depends on what you need it for.

    Mike, I’ve learned so much from reading your blog that I wanted to give something back. So when I signed up for UAW today, I used your link. Just wanted to give you a heads up so you can make sure you got credit for it. πŸ™‚

    Ok sounds nice. I just wanted to check because Im still at odds about checking competition correctly. I know people have several methods and some say dont pay attention to “quotes” but I think it helps. I just had a snipe site land on page 1 right after indexing with 133k of comp in quotes. This site has no content and no backlinks (its how I launch all my sites to get indexed) I used to target less than 50k in quotes and Im trying to get a good feel on if a keyword is worth going after according to amount of competition im thinking I can raise the bar a lil. But again I guess it all depends

    @Kasey Langton

    Don’t just look at competition in quotes, I’ve mentioned before that it’s not the most important metric, you need to take other things into consideration as well…more important than that is checking the page 1 competition and seeing how many PR “0” and PR “-“‘s there are and then assessing the # of backlinks those have.

    2-3 PR N/A’s or 0’s with less than 50(preferably less than 10) backlinks is a good sign.

    Another good sign is seeing other sniper sites on page 1…
