Day 24 – PR Surprise :o

math problem elephant Pictures, Images and Photos

Today I had some dealings with recruiters and job offers…I’m going for a recruiter interview tomorrow(after which I may get a client interview) regarding a Quality Assurance position.  Because of this I had to spend some time today refreshing my QA knowledge and going over my resume so I didn’t get as much work done today as I otherwise would have.

For anyone that hasn’t followed from the start, I’m a contract Quality Assurance/Business Analyst and I’ve been out of work for a bit now, which is why I’ve been able to devote so much time to getting all this IM stuff done.

It’s great being able to work on my business full-time like this, however if I do wind up getting a job, the pace is going to slow down…especially since these jobs are going to require me to travel quite a distance.

Well, aside from that today I did manage to get 2 UAW submissions done, building backlinks for 4 of my sites…in addition to that, I noticed that my page rank for many of my sites has gone up, it looks like Google in the last few days has done a page rank update, check your sites!

The end result of this for me was the following:

For my main authority sites:

Site #1 = PR0 to PR1
Site #2 = PR1 to PR2
Site #5 = PR0 to PR1
Site #7 = PR0 to PR1
Site #8 = PR0 to PR1

And for my sniper sites, I had 8 of my oldest sniper sites reach a PR of 1!  It seems like running UAW on the sites has paid off..interesting.

Earnings For Today:

  • Sale for Site#3 = $22.84
  • Adsense = $2.05
  • Hops = 356

Oh, I didn’t realize you were out of work. Now I can see why you get so much done.

Are you nervous about going back to work and not doing IM full-time? I work FT now and all I do is think about how I can’t wait to get home and work on my sites.

Anyway, good luck with your interview!

I also meant to ask… Are you only using UAW for backlinks?

I’d love to try UAW but the cost is so high. I guess I’m just curious how important you think it is to your progress so far.

    Hi Mike…
    Good luck tomorrow.

I have a question for you.
    When you say you have a lot of niche blogs in the same niche, do you then mean;

    a) general niche like helath, but different offers or
    b) same offer

Hope you got the time to reply, but don’t sweat it 🙂

Good luck on the job…my husband just had to start commuting to NYC 2x a week, 2 hour commute each way with the train — hope your commute isn’t like this! It sucks…

Glad to hear you’re picking up some ranking

Thanks everyone, the interview went well..usually when meeting for a recruiter interview it isn’t so bad, but given the economic times, they’re being extremely picky, they really grilled me. They want to make sure the person they send for the real interview has a good chance of getting it vs. the other candidates submitted via different recruiting agencies..

Now I’ve got to see if I get the real interview! I’ve got to say though, part of me doesn’t want to go back to work..

Ya, Carrie, I’ve worked on IM and worked at the same time before, but at my last job, I was only 10 minutes away from home! Now I’m going to be much farther away so if I get it, it will be challenging to get things done.

For backlinking, at the moment I’m only using UAW..and after the recent results I’ve seen with the increase in PR, plus seeing how it really helps to rank you for specific keywords, I’d say even using UAW once on a site can make quite a difference…It usually leads to 30-60 registered backlinks, sometimes more…and now it seems to also result in a PR of 1 with time.

If you are going to use UAW, it’s best you have a lot of sites, that’s where you REALLY see the benefit. In fact, I’d say it’s pretty much a MUST if you are building a blog empire, link building would be annoying without it.

If you’re not sure about getting it, wait until you have more sites or your online income can pay for it.

Hey Hjalte, when I say I have a lot of sniper sites in the same niche, I mean like “dog training, learning the guitar, weight lifting”…and when it comes to my “main sniper niche” which has 35 sites, some of them are promoting different products, the reason being that some products are more targeted for specific keywords (ex: a product to potty train a dog vs to stop a dog from biting).

Deb, that’s pretty long, but when you you’re out of work and need something, you’ve got to take the first thing that comes… If I get this, my commute would be about 1 hour and 15 minutes or so each way..

    and thanks Shelly :>

Hey, I had a bit of a PR surprise myself.
A 9 week old site went from 0 to PR3! The internal pages got ranks as well. 6 with a PR2 and 4 with PR1. (34 indexed pages)

This site is a bit of a mystery. Adsense is not tracking impressions even though statcounter shows around 100 uniques a day… Unable to add this site to Google Analytics… It just ignores anything I do…

Had planned to use coupons for this site, but unable to find affiliate info, so had to resort to adsense. Now, maybe I should s@ell some li#nks instead? Anyone knows what you could get doing that??

    Site is related to food.

    @Evita

    PR3, nice!

Well, I can’t tell you what you’d get selling links but if it were me in this position, rather than trying to get something out of a non-performing site, I’d just ignore it and move onto making another more profitable one…
