Day 225 – Outsourced 14 UAW Articles + Finding Article Writers

December 16th, 2009

Today I decided I’d take a break from making sites considering I’m in the process of finding people to do that for me and so I spent the day outsourcing UAW articles for my last batch of adsense snipers.

I basically had to backlink adsense sniper #75-100, so I ended up picking out Ezine Articles and then sending that to Human Rewriter to be re-written 3x so that it can be used as a UAW submission.ย  Each of these will build backlinks to 2 sites, which means I’ll have backlinks for 24 sites in total out of that…these will take about 3-6 days to get back to me as Human Rewriter is currently backlogged.

Aside from that, I’m still looking for people to outsource work to, it’s really hard to find good people at $2/article, so what I decided to do was re-post my ad on ODesk as the original stopped getting applications, then I went ahead and made another ad and posted that up on Get A Freelancer.ย  Still I’m getting a lot of crap, but I’m going to stick with this day after day until I come across at least 2 people who are good.

Even if I do find good writers, there are going to be other things I’ll need to deal with, finding people who are good at meeting deadlines and people who are available and easily accessible..

Oh, those 43 sites that I had outsourced backlinking for, 30 links to each from Angela type backlinks, they are starting to come back to me completed. I got reports for 9 of the sites thus far, each report containing the hyperlinks to the profiles that have my links on them in the bio section.ย  I took all of those and stuck it in the SENuke pinger and ping’d them all so that Google would come to find them faster, will be interesting to see what happens as a result of these extra 30 backlinks for each of these 43 sites..

Earnings For Today:

  • CB = $65.20 – 2 sales for Site #2, 1 sniper sale
  • Hops = 123
  • Adsense = $49.93
  • Total = $115.13

    @ Mike – sent an email to your admin email address. Give me a shout when you get a chance. I can meet your outsourcing needs if you are interested. I sent you a place where you can read examples of some of my 2.0 stuff (of course, the really good stuff is on my own blogs :)).

    Mike, I really don’t think it will be worth your time to search for people that will:

    – cost $2 per article
    – write good content
    – write fast
    – be easy accessible

    You’ll have to go through hundreds (if not more).

    You’ll be wasting a ton of time. It’s better to pay more or require less.

    It’s definitely possible to find good writers at $2 an article.. I had to go through 4 writers before I found 2 great ones. You just have to weed the bad ones out.

    Well, obviously it will depend on what “good” is and also what length you think an article should be.

    But I’m all ears if you find someone. I’ve tested about 80 or so with little luck (at that price).

    I’ve had good experiences with hiring motivated work at home moms living in the U.S. Finding writers through Craigslist is a good source if you do not want to target non-American writers.

    In my experience with oDesk, I original built a team of 7 writers but through the past 2 months working with them have only considered 3 of them to be my core writers for my site content. As for the other 4, I use 1 of them occasionally when I was looking for quick short articles for ezine and goarticle submissions and another one of those writers to write articles for my UAW submissions. I guess you can say I use the “weaker” writers for the article submissions and just expect to have to go through their articles and spend about a few minutes tweaking any incomplete sounding sentences to prepare them for article submissions.

    I am lucky to have found a really good core group of writers that have more than proven their writing skills to me so I fully trust them to write the content for my sites without worry that something will sound awkward.

    It took me about a week to find my team but you should be prepared for the writers that maybe started off great and slowly slacked in their writing or worse…communication and deadlines.

    You can definitely find good writers for $2 an hour and once you get them, treat them with such importance and respect. Do so; and you will have loyal writers that are more likely to beat your deadlines and do outstanding work for you. It really is no different than in the real work world. I make sure to encourage my writers and compliment their articles. I find that this helps with 2 things: 1.) It helps develop confidence in their own work and will encourage them to maintain a certain standard and even push themselves harder and 2.) They feel valuable

    @Sara
    I agree with you regarding treating your employees with respect and praising them when deserved. It’s basic tenets of good management. (Recommended read: 1-minute manager)

    @Mike
    A little bit of an unrelated question, but have you found a good way to manage all 100 sites? For plugin updates or wordpress updates, there must be a better way than logging into all 100 and doing it manually…..

    @MikeM

    HAHA, ya, it gets gay near the end…

    @Kevin

    OK Kev, I’ll go check..

    @Mikael Rieck

    Ya, Mikael, I know it will be tough picking people out, however I’ve been doing some “spying” on Get A Freelancer and I’ve found some people who speak fluently picking up jobs to do articles for $2 each.

    I also believe I may have at least 1 person who I’ll be happy with. I will need to do a bit of correction on the work, just some words are made plural when they shouldn’t be…but I believe that with my little revision of each one which shouldn’t take me more than a 3-4 min each, the quality will be good.

    @Daniel

    Hey thanks for the tip Daniel..

    @Sara

    Thanks for the tips Sara, ya, gotta put yourself in their shoes and treat the accordingly…

    @Chris

    Ya Chris…I first of all use XSite Pro 2 which easily lets me manage all my websites with just that user interface. As for accessing cpanel and such, I use Domain Dashboard which is just AMAZING and a necessity if you have a lot of sites..It really only works well with reseller accounts though. you can pick it up for free, I think I linked to it in one of my past posts. Do a search for it on my site…
