Day 209 – ASniper #78 & 79 + Return Of #1 Adsense Sniper + Interesting Insight

November 30th, 2009

Got another 2 adsense snipers done today and also found 2 new keywords and bought up the domains..

In other news, My #1 adsense sniper has returned to page 1 along with the other top level domain I registered to further capitalize on the keyword.  Something really interesting has happened here though…

My #1 earning adsense sniper earned close to what it earns at the #1 spot and had close to the same # of impressions despite only being at the #7 spot(93% of traffic is for the main kw BTW).  My other TLD for the same keyword was ranked #10 and earned 1/2 what my #1 adsense sniper earned…This isn’t the first time I’ve seen one of my sites earn just as much at a #4-7 slot as it did in a #1-3 slot, which leads me to believe the following:

As long as you have a keyword targeted domain you can be ranking in position #2-7(and lower) and still manage to pull a significant amount of the search engine traffic for that keyword, simply because your domain name matches the Internet user’s query exactly.  Of course if there are other snipers you’re competing with, that will affect how many you pull(I’ve seen this happen big time with my CB snipers receiving new competition).

All that talk about #1 receiving 42%, #2 – 12%, #3 – 8%, #4 – 5%, #5 – 4%, #6 – 3% etc… is just B.S. theory which doesn’t factor in enough variables… In reality things don’t always work out that way.

Earnings For Today:

  • CB = $0
  • Hops = 204
  • Adsense = $54.82 (up since the return of my #1 sniper)

    That is an interesting insight, but 100 impressions must not be 100 unique visitors in this case. You had analytsics to track the visitors or you are depending on adsense’s impression.

    The earnings might be the same at different spots., but earnings = Click x cpc.

    Did your site at #1 gonna more clicks than the sites at #7? Or are they the same. For me, i am more concern with clicks rather than CPC.

    CPC changes, but as long as the clicks are there, we will earn when a big fish advertise on Adwords

    That is very interesting, it’s great that you’re in a position to start seeing these trends now and thanks for sharing. Look forward to seeing how your earnings go now your main site has returned.

    @Lisa

    Ya, thanks Lisa, next I need to get back another one of my top earners that has been gone for over a month.

    @nick

    Hey Nick, it’s kind of hard to share this insight with you when I’m restricted to not talking about specifics regarding CTR and clicks…But I’ll say that the CTR AND clicks I received at #7 were consistent with an AVERAGE day at the #1 spot.

    As far as the unique visitors, the analytics showed them to be at 40 which is consistent with an average day at the #1 spot…however when I was at the #1 spot, I have seen the unique visitors spike at 58, 60 and one time even 74.

    @Ruth – Web Career Girl

    NP Ruth, ya, will be interesting to see how the income goes, I’m sure the rankings/earnings are going to be fluctuating as the 2 sites over the past few days have been shifting around a lot at the bottom of page 1 and even onto page 2 sometimes(My #1 adsense sniper had started ranking again on the 28th).

    I’ve always thought that was conjecture/opinion to think that’s how the clicks break out between positions. Your experience with this is interesting.

    Also, Mike, you are sure proving, at least to my eyes, that Adsense earnings are steadier than CB money.

    @Bruce

    Ya, unfortunately that’s how it’s turned out, CB has been really volatile lately…I believe the reason is that this particular niche has A LOTTTTT of competition in it… my hops for the month is 4.7k vs 6.4k last month.

    Had I found a less competitive niche or spread out amongst many different niches the income would probably be more stable.

    But even when I was doing well with CB I’d have maybe 2 days out if 15 where there were $0 days..you don’t get that with Adsense.

    Hooray for back to $50 days! You’re halfway there!
